I started out roasting coffee as a hobby in my garage with my husband, on an SR700 Fresh Roast air roasting coffee roaster. I was able to roast just 7 ounces at a time every 10-15 minutes depending on the coffee beans I was roasting.
We shared our roasted coffee with friends and family. As I learned more about how to roast coffee, I learned coffee has different tasting notes! I wanted to share my findings with others!
I wondered; Does everyone know about this? Coffee has tasting notes?? What?? I was intrigued and wanted to know more.
Coffee doesn’t have to be bitter?? You’re telling me that coffee taste delicious if it’s roasted properly?? I was determined to share my findings with my fellow coffee drinkers, and even non-coffee drinkers. Maybe the reason they don’t like coffee is because it’s over roasted coffee! Which brought the birth of my now company
3 Sheep Coffee Roasters.
I am now able to roast on an amazing coffee roaster, the Air Motion, from South Africa. I purchased this coffee roaster to allow others the ability to roast their own green coffee beans with a more consistent roast and more batches, 7oz. to 12kg. or 26.45lbs. Eliminating the mystery behind coffee roasting.
Why 3 Sheep Coffee Roasters? What’s the significance behind my company name? When my husband and I married, he already had sheep. He started with 4, 1 male and 3 girls. Well, they didn’t stay that way for long! By the time we met and were married, he had upwards of 15 sheep. As our heard grew, the holding area for the sheep grew to be too small for all the sheep. 4 sheep were born right after we wed. To our surprise, we were home to witness all their births. One, I got the privilege to bottle feed. Her mother rejected her, which happens occasionally among livestock. We knew it wasn’t practical nor good for all of the sheep to remain with us in a space that wasn’t growing with them.
We returned all the sheep to their originally owner, except for 3 of the lambs born while we were home. Why not all 4? Well, one of the sheep gave birth to twins. A boy and a girl. We decided to keep the girls because we wanted to control the prospect of having more sheep in the future.
Our sheep have been with us for almost 9 years now! We recently have acquired 3 more lambs, all girls, that we have added to the flock. They were born in the month of February 2022. They have become just as apart of the family as the original 3.
Our sheep have become apart of our family and it only made since to include them in my business venture!
